Finding and Applying for Apprenticeships
Knowing where to look for information when thinking about what to do post-16 and post-18 can be difficult. On this page you will find details of how to find details about and apply for apprenticeships.
The first common question is "what types of apprenticeships are available?”
Level | Equivalent education level | |
Intermediate | 2 | GCSE |
Advanced | 3 | A Levels or Extended Diploma |
Higher | 4,5,6 and 7 | Foundation degree and above |
Degree | 6 and 7 | Bachelor’s or master’s degree |
Depending on the level you want to study, some apprenticeships may:
- require previous qualifications such as an English or maths GCSE
- give extra training in the English or maths skills needed so you’re at the right level
At the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll achieve the equivalent education level. For example, if you complete a level 3 apprenticeship, you’ll achieve the equivalent of an A level.
The website that sits as the hub to search and gives details of how to apply it this:

Some of the apprenticeships are applied to directly via this website and some you need to apply by the employer's website. You can search by a variety of fields and there is also a browse function that allows you to look at particular sectors of work, for example "Health, Public Services and Care" or "Construction, Planning and the Built Environment".
