Key Stage 3

Modern Foreign Languages

The Key Stage 3 curriculum is designed to cover a range vocabulary and grammar, providing a solid foundation for GCSE, and building students’ confidence in communicating in a foreign language.

MFL lessons utilise a wide range of teaching styles and techniques to appeal to all learners. Students will develop competency and confidence in using all four skill areas, reading, listening, writing and speaking.

In addition to the Key Stage topic areas, students in Year 8 and Year 9 will study cultural topics, such as a films, musicians, art and artist, historical time period, region and / or traditions. Cultural topics are delivered in the target language and encourage students to gain a better understanding of the language and culture.
